Commemorative Poster Contest Launches Kelly Services 60th Anniversary Celebration

TROY, Mich., May 2 -- With an entry designed to capture the "character" of a global staffing solutions provider, Craig Mackiewicz was selected as the winner of the Kelly Services 60th Anniversary Commemorative Poster Contest.

Mackiewicz, a resident of Detroit, is a student enrolled in the industrial design program at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. Mackiewicz' winning entry will be on display at Kelly's world headquarters in Troy, Mich., and throughout its branch network in 30 countries and territories.

"For the design of this poster, I wanted to capture one of the major characteristics of Kelly Services - growth. Kelly is symbolized through a tree in the poster, with the branches representing its various milestones. From one location to a worldwide network of offices, and from one service offered to many. This tree will continue grow and prosper for many years to come," said Mackiewicz.

Kelly received entries from students attending Central Michigan University, College for Creative Studies, Oakland Community College, and the University of Michigan. Poster design concepts were judged on the basis of originality and creativity.

"We were very impressed by the overall quality of the poster entries and the ingenuity of the students that designed them," said Michael Morrow, senior vice president of corporate marketing, Kelly Services. "On behalf of the entire Kelly Services family, we'd like to congratulate Craig and wish him well in the pursuit of his studies at CCS."

Kelly's yearlong celebration will also entail various community events, a commemorative postage stamp, employee and customer recognition programs, as well as branch festivities worldwide.

Widely credited with pioneering the modern temporary help industry, William Russell Kelly founded his company on October 7, 1946 in Detroit, and operated initially as the Russell Kelly Office Service. The company was renamed Kelly Girl Service in 1957, and it became Kelly Services, Inc. in 1966 to reflect the broad range of staffing services provided by the company.
