TROY, Mich., Jan. 6 -- The following commentary by Carl Camden, president and chief operating officer of global staffing company Kelly Services, Inc., is offered in advance of the December unemployment rate announcement due Friday from the U.S. Department of Labor. In November, the economy gained a reported 112,000 jobs, and the unemployment rate was 5.4 percent.

"We expect to see a positive jobs report with upwards of 150,000 jobs having been created in December. Although seasonal adjustments and the continued shift of purchasing moving away from retail outlets to the Internet could have an affect on employment, the economy overall saw steady growth in the fourth quarter and 2005 is off to a good start.

"As we head into the New Year we believe the economy and jobs market will continue to strengthen and gather momentum. We continue to see strong demand for permanent employees across all market sectors and good demand for temporary employees."
