Lansdowne, PA Resident Selected From More Than 15,000 Substitute Teachers

TROY, MI, Aug 29, 2006 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX News Network) -- Kelly Educational Staffing, a service line of staffing leader Kelly Services, announced that Penny Landry will be honored today as Substitute Teacher of the Year during a "Welcome Back" meeting of The William Penn School District teachers and administrators. The presentation will take place at 9 a.m. at the Drexelbrook Corporate Events Center, 4700 Drexelbrook Drive in Drexel Hill.

Presenting the award to Ms. Landry will be Dr. Dana T. Bedden, superintendent of schools, along with representatives from Kelly Educational Staffing in Philadelphia. Ms. Landry is being recognized for her outstanding performance and exemplary service as a substitute teacher in The William Penn School District during the 2005-2006 school year.

According to Dr. Bedden, the classroom is the place where a good substitute blossoms. The substitute's attitude, attire, and ability flourish in front of the class. Every time Ms. Landry agreed to serve students in the absence of their teacher, her personality was put on display in front of students. "Clearly, she functions more as a teacher and not as a substitute," said Dr. Bedden. "On behalf of the William Penn School District Board of School Directors, administrators, students, parents, and community, I thank Ms. Landry for respecting and accepting the awesome challenge of teaching our children and recognizing that teaching is a profession, not a job."

A resident of Lansdowne, Penn., Ms. Landry began substitute teaching for Kelly Educational Staffing in 2003. She holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Millersville State University in Pennsylvania. While raising her family, Ms. Landry tutored students in English and was a substitute teacher in Haddonfield and Collingswood, N.J.

In addition to substitute teaching, Ms. Landry is an active member of the community and a longtime volunteer in her church, helping to organize events and participating in the Altar Guild. She credits her love of teaching to growing up in a family of dedicated teachers who share a passion for educating others.

"I really enjoy teaching and interacting with children, and find I learn something new from them every day," said Ms. Landry. "Each child brings a unique quality to the classroom, and it is rewarding to have a role in their education."

In honor of Ms. Landry's achievement as Substitute Teacher of the Year, Kelly Educational Staffing will present her with a certificate of recognition and a citation commending her exemplary service issued by State Representative Nicholas A. Micozzie, Pennsylvania House of Representatives. She will also receive $500 worth of award points redeemable for merchandise and/or gift certificates.

"Kelly is pleased to honor Ms. Landry with this award," said Scott Smith, vice president for Kelly Educational Staffing. "She is dedicated and committed to providing a quality learning experience in the classroom and has a genuine concern for the success of all students."

The Kelly Educational Staffing Substitute Teacher of the Year award recognizes Kelly substitute teachers for their outstanding performance and service in the classroom throughout the school year. The award is based on performance feedback from permanent teachers and school administrators that Kelly substitute teachers receive on regular basis.

Established in 1997, Kelly has filled more than 2.7 million classrooms with qualified substitute teachers and has partnered with 2,900 schools in the United States and United Kingdom. Each year, Kelly Educational Staffing fills more than 96 percent of the requests received for substitute teachers nationally.
