WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwire) -- 01/03/13 -- The Committee for Economic Development (CED), a non-profit, nonpartisan business-led public policy organization, is pleased to announce Carl Camden, President and Chief Executive Officer of Kelly Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: KELYA) (NASDAQ: KELYB) as the new Co-Chair of CED. Mr. Camden will serve alongside Roger W. Ferguson, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of TIAA-CREF and CED Co-Chair since June 2011.
Mr. Camden succeeds Donald K. Peterson, former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Avaya Inc.Mr. Camden is President and Chief Executive Officer of Kelly Services, a leader in providing workforce solutions. He also serves on the company's board of directors. Kelly Services is a Fortune 500 company headquartered in Troy, Michigan.
"Carl is known for his work to support policies that drive economic growth and improve workforce competitiveness and productivity through enhanced education reform," said Roger Ferguson. Mr. Camden's expertise spans business, government, academic and non-profit sectors. In 2007, Mr. Camden was a founding member of Better Health Care Together, a coalition urging fundamental reform of the American health care system. He serves as Chairman of the Detroit Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and on the Board of Directors of the Detroit Medical Center, and the Board of Trustees of the University of Detroit Mercy. Carl was also an associate professor in the Communications Department of Cleveland State University.
Mr. Camden holds an undergraduate degree in psychology and speech from Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Missouri, a graduate degree in clinical psychology and speech communication from Central Missouri State University, and a doctorate in communications from Ohio State University.
