May 4, 2005

TROY, Mich., May 4 --

WHAT: Advance comment on the unemployment rate announcement provided by global staffing company Kelly Services.

WHO: Carl Camden, president and chief operating officer, Kelly Services.

DETAILS: The following commentary is offered in advance of the April unemployment rate announcement due Friday from the U.S. Department of Labor:

Despite the earlier soft patch in the economy, employers are hiring. We expect this jobs report to reveal a month of strong growth.

We have seen a rise in the use of temporary employees in many job categories such as science, engineering and finance.

Conversions from temporary to permanent employment continue to climb, and direct placements are also increasing at a faster pace than originally anticipated.

These developments are positive economic indicators that bode well for continued employment growth overall.
