Kelly Engineering Resources Offers Scholarship to Engineering Students
TROY, Mich. (March 31, 2009) - Engineering students looking for help with college costs can apply for Kelly Engineering Resources' seventh annual "Future Engineers Scholarship." The $5,000 scholarship award is presented to one student in recognition of his/her outstanding academic performance and depth of knowledge about the issue or challenge addressed in their essay.
All sophomore- and junior-level college engineering students who meet the program criteria are invited to compete for the scholarship by submitting an essay on a designated, contemporary engineering topic. To date, Kelly Engineering Resources has provided more than $30,000 in scholarship funds to college students.
In January 2010, the student with the winning essay will be presented a $5,000 scholarship check to be used toward eligible expense for tuition, fees, books, and room and board during the 2010 calendar year.
Submission materials, guidelines and this year's essay question are available at kellyengineering.com/scholarships. The deadline for submissions is October 15, 2009.
The Future Engineers Scholarship program was developed to encourage student interest in a career in engineering, to foster excellence in the engineering field, and to help alleviate a critical current and future shortage of highly qualified engineers.
The eight judges for the 2010 Future Engineers Scholarship program are: David Wagman, editor, Power Engineering Magazine; Leslie Smith, director of programs, The Engineering Society of Detroit; Elizabeth Walzel, director of engineering, The Dow Chemical Company; Tim Pasternak, director, renal solution product support, Baxter Healthcare; Larry Ciba, director, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals; Eric Swain, editor in chief, MD&DI, and Jocelyn E. Scott, vice president, engineering and facilities services, DuPont.
