Kelly Services, Inc., Expands Partnership with the National Academy Foundation

June 1, 2009

TROY, Mich. (June 1, 2009) ---Kelly Services, a world leader in workforce management services and human resources solutions, is expanding its partnership with the National Academy Foundation (NAF) to include Information Technology and Finance Academies.  Kelly currently has an ongoing relationship with NAF's Academies of Engineering across the country. The Academy of Engineering is a partnership among NAF, Project Lead TheWay, Inc. (PLTW), and National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering, Inc. (NACME).

As part of the expanded partnership, Kelly will be involved in Academic areas that run parallel to their highly specialized and rapidly expanding business lines, including Kelly Information Technology Resources (KITR) and Kelly Financial Resources (KFR).

Kelly Engineering Resources originally partnered with NAF in 2008 with a focus on supporting Academies of Engineering.  Through this partnership, the Kelly Engineering Grant Program was created to award monetary grants to Academies of Engineering across the country.  In addition, KER promotes local Advisory Board membership to their employees, and offers NAF instructors the opportunity to participate in paid summer externships.

In 2009, KER will again provide grants to Academies of Engineering.  In addition, KITR will award two $2,500 scholarships to high school seniors graduating from Academies of Information Technology.    On a national level, Tim McAward, vice president of Kelly Engineering Resources, is serving on NAF's national steering committee.

"It makes sense for Kelly Services to connect with organization such as NAF to provide guidance to high school students in developing their career goals," said Steve Armstrong, senior vice president and general manager, Kelly Services.  "Kelly is committed to working with NAF to assist students in developing the skills and professionalism necessary to be successful in the future workplace."

"The National Academy Foundation relies upon the support of corporations and their leaders to ensure the success of NAF Academies across the United States," said JD Hoye, president of NAF. "Kelly Services is an ideal partner, because like NAF, Kelly is committed to improving the future workforce and developing a pipeline of prepared talent ready for college and careers."
